HOTTEST BAND IN TOWN COLLECTION
You just start to think you know Judith Durham as
an artist and she surprises you, yet again. She reneged on her classical piano
world and the possibility of a career in opera or musical theatre when she exuberantly
embraced the teenage cult music of the day in the early Sixties. Judith shows
us on these vintage tracks, recorded in the early Seventies, how easily she
transforms that golden voice to carry the music of the Twenties and Thirties
for trad jazz aficionados into the Millennium on two albums recorded with bands
she cofounded in San Francisco and in London with her late husband, brilliant
pianist and arranger Ron Edgeworth. Fans have begged, stolen and borrowed to
replace their worn-out vinyls over the past four decades, and here they are
again at last on a glorious 2CD set Judith Durham 'The Hottest Band In Town
Collection' (comprising Judith Durham & The Hottest Band In Town and Judith
Durham & The Hottest Band In Town Volume 2) featuring seven of Judith's
own compositions and four bonus, never-before-released collector's tracks.

o a precious gift for all her fans who have waited so long for the opportunity
to hear these rare recordings at their pristine best.

and America and the meaningful and heartfelt subject matter gives a hint of
the direction her developing solo career would take later, now spanning every
genre, even as a songwriter herself.
o This album, with its cover depicting Judith on the brink of marriage, is a
pivotal moment in time captured in this remastered 30ips recording of a voice
which has defied adequate description since it was first heard all over the

It all started back in 1972 when Judith and her late husband, pianist Ron Edgeworth,
drove from San Francisco to Boston. With a large map on her knee, Judith was
struck by how many cities in America had become famous globally through songs
like New York, New York California, Here I Come I Left My Heart
In San Francisco Chicago Oklahoma Massachusetts Galveston
Georgia On My Mind compared with so few in Australia. Right then
and there, Judith decided to write a little song for her own hometown Melbourne,
Seldom Melbourne Leaves My Mind "seldom" being the only word
she could think of that (almost) rhymed with Melbourne! Judith rose to the challenge
and the rest of the 'Suite' took shape - with Sydney, Girl Of My Dreams

taken her to its heart.

album from Judith Durham.
superb recording - 'Epiphany' - is Judith's second
self-penned production, her 10th solo album. It embraces in-depth compositions
on a scale not attempted by Judith before, and showcases her God-given voice
and her gifts as a composer and lyricist. This is no ordinary album. It is a
lavishly-produced work that embraces causes dear to the hearts of many, and
touches on wide-reaching and emotional themes of hope, love, courage, caution
and loss...in every sense an 'epiphany'."
This is currently only due for release in Australia.
The exchange rate between the pound and Australian dollar has changed considerably
in the last few years and is the reason for what seems to be an expensive price.

retrospective compilation album 'Colours Of My Life',
a compilation of specially handpicked tracks representing her albums through
the decades. With tracks personally selected by Judith, it includes her very
first recording (before she joined The Seekers full time) Moan You Mourners,
one of the biggest Seekers hits, Georgy Girl, her solo hit The Olive Tree, trad
jazz with her late husband Ron Edgeworth and their band, a track from her new
album Epiphany, a very moving solo rendition of the Seekers' hit The Carnival
is Over recorded live at London's Royal Festival Hall on her 60th birthday,
as well as, of course, the title track of this collection Colours Of My Life
(which she co-wrote for The Seekers). Judith also recorded two albums for A&M/Universal
in the US and UK, and three tracks from these appear on CD for the first time,
including Skyline Pigeon (with Elton John playing the piano) and a truly inspiring
version of 'The Sound of Music' hit, Climb Ev'ry Mountain. Says Elton John:
"Judith Durham, like Karen Carpenter and Eva Cassidy, possesses the purest
voice in popular music. When she recorded one of my songs [Skyline Pigeon],
I was so flattered and loved her version. She made the song her own - a very
enviable talent." Significantly, six of the 22 tracks have never before
been released on CD. The album will be packaged with a DVD, being a 25-minute
retrospective of her life, aired as part of the 2010 ABC's series "Talking
Heads" with Peter Thompson.
