When Billy
Fury quit Decca and signed for Parlophone in 1966, reports were rife of
work on a groundbreaking album.
As months,
then years passed, however, the LP mysteriously failed to appear, and
after Billy's death in 1982, EMI said they could find no trace of master
tapes.
However,
research has since unearthed a succession of acetates and second generation
recordings from the period.
Twelve tracks
that might have been intended for the fabled LP have now been chosen for
this new album.
Another
dozen recordings from Billy's Parlophone years complete this important
addition to the story of one of Britains best-loved artists of the
period.
The 8-page
booklet includes an exclusive unpublished photograph by top celebrity
photographer Ian Wright.

Billy
Fury achieved as many Top 40 successes as The Beatles in the 1960s, but
before his first smash hit, "Halfway To Paradise", nine critically
acclaimed singles were issued.
This new
37-track CD, "The Road To Paradise", sets the musical scene
for Billy's transformation into a serial hit-maker.
It includes
all of his 1959-60 singles, every track from his self-penned rockabilly
classic LP "The Sound Of Fury", the entire content of an historic
demo disc, and soundtracks from radio and television appearances.
These include,
for the first time on CD, a TV sketch featuring Billy and the broadcast
song.
The album
features an authoritative 8-page booklet.
The Road
To Paradise has been rated by the website BillyFury.com as "an impressive
5-star package".

DICKIE
PRIDE: THE COMPLETE
At last - a professionally-produced album of the complete recordings of
Dickie Pride, one of the most tragic figures of British 50s/60s pop, who
was wowing TV audiences on Oh Boy! within weeks of his discovery singing
in a pub.
This CD features all 24 of the Sheik of Shake's tracks, from his first single,
Slippin' 'n' Slidin' in 1959, through his classic 1961 LP, to his final
single, as a member of The Guv'ners, in 1963.
Joe Brown and others who performed with Dickie were unanimous that his talent
was unique - yet he never had a hit record, and he died at the age of only
27. |
